About the Rimshot (Ba-Dum-Tss) sound
Ba-dum-tss. The rimshot is comedy's oldest safety net, lifted straight from the vaudeville and burlesque drummers who punctuated a comic's punchline so the audience knew exactly when to react. Three hits, a couple of seconds, and a bad joke is officially a joke. It survives because it works with no support at all: post it under a pun in a group chat with zero other context and everybody reads it correctly. Streamers bind it to a hotkey. Podcast editors drop it in afterwards, usually against the host's express wishes.
