About the Taser Zap sound

The crackling electrical arc of a stun device: a nasty, snapping buzz that anyone who has ever sat through an action film recognises immediately. It became the standard effect for anything electric going wrong — shorted wiring, malfunctioning robots, science-fiction weapons, cartoon shocks alike. Editors love it because it is short and aggressive and cuts straight through a busy mix with no processing at all. Use it when a scene needs to end abruptly and a little painfully. Nothing about it is subtle.
