The Trashmen recorded Surfin' Bird in 1963, and Family Guy resurrected it in 2008 by handing Peter Griffin an obsession that eventually drove his entire family to violence. The repetition is not a side effect but the design. Built to be maddening, the song succeeds completely, so the episode more or less runs itself. Play it once for the nostalgia, then keep playing it until everybody in the room has been fully informed about the bird. Everybody has heard. Everybody has definitely heard.
