About the Goofy Yell (Yaaah-hoo-hooey) sound
That famous yodel was recorded by Hannes Schroll, an Austrian skier, for a 1941 Disney short about skiing. It has been the official sound of falling ever since, reused across eight decades of cartoons. The meme era simply expanded its jurisdiction. Any person, object or institution in freefall now qualifies. Play it for stumbles, for stock charts, for a life plan visibly departing a cliff edge with its legs still moving. As screams go it is genuinely historic, and every decade it survives seems to improve it.
