About the Freddy Fazbear Laugh sound
For most of the first game Freddy doesn't chase you. He just laughs, a slow echoing unmistakably animatronic chuckle that drifts down the hallway to tell you he has moved somewhere you cannot currently see. As psychological design it is close to perfect: a sound with no image attached, arriving on no schedule, meaning nothing good. Veterans of the 2014 original still flinch at it a decade later, which says something about how well the trick was built. Drop it into a Discord call when somebody goes quiet for slightly too long.
