About the Pac-Man sound
Namco released Pac-Man in 1980 and accidentally invented a sound palette that practically everyone on earth can still identify. The opening jingle, the relentless waka-waka of the chomp, the ghost siren rising as the maze empties — all of it squeezed out of a chip with almost nothing to work with, and all of it instantly readable as video game. Toshio Kai's audio is a large part of why the character escaped the arcade into cereal boxes and Saturday morning cartoons. Certified arcade heritage, ready for any retro edit.
